Worship

A couple of weeks ago I preached a message on worship, I thought I would share with you the notes that went out around our Church concerning this phenomenal topic.  May you be blessed today! For through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.  Colossians 1:16 NLT Worship is not so much about where or how. You can worship in church, at home or anywhere else. But at the center of it all is a Person - Jesus Christ. He is the visible image of the invisible God. Our worship of Jesus reveals the Father to us. 1.  Worship starts in the seen and ends in the unseen - God is revealed to us

Colossians : The backstory

For the keen amongst you I thought I would give you the 'backstory' to the letter to Colossians.  As our Church is going through a study of it right now.  Once you have read it take a look at our website This is Amazing Grace and engage with a Colossians experience! Paul was writing to the Church in Colosse around 60AD from prison, probably in Rome. He had never met the Church before, we know this from Colossians 2:1, but Epaphrus the pastor of the Church found Christ through Paul and was trained at his school of ministry in Ephesus. Colosse was 160km inland from Ephesus. Colosse had been a wealthy city and on a major trading route from east to west.  The city had begun to decline by this point and probably the pressures of economic decline, loss of work and sociological change led t

The Great Power of Fasting — Ps Phil Pringle

Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the LORD, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you. Hosea 10:12 The secret to a major breakthrough in any circumstance is to first breakthrough in prayer. When we add fasting to our praying we increase our effectiveness many times over. There is not a preacher, a pastor, or a group of Christians throughout all Christian history who have achieved some great thing for God that have been able to say, prayer was not part of it. Not just ordinary prayer either, but prayer that breaks through. Prayer and fasting bring breakthroughs that nothing else can. Even Jesus told his disciples some things cannot be achieved without prayer and fasting, (Mark 9:29). Saying a prayer is

Jesus First in 2014

As they were walking along, someone said to Jesus, “I will follow you wherever you go.” But Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.” He said to another person, “Come, follow me.” The man agreed, but he said, “Lord, first let me return home and bury my father.” But Jesus told him, “Let the spiritually dead bury their own dead! Your duty is to go and preach about the Kingdom of God.” Another said, “Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first let me say good-bye to my family.” But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.” Luke 9:57-62 What an incredibly challenging yet exciting message here.  If we were to check our thoughts, actions and decisions agai
