Thrive : Connect. Grow. Serve. Disciple

It would be the desire of every one of us to thrive in life. It would be the desire if any pastor to see the members if their church thriving. To thrive is to do life well. Not that life is well all of the time, but that our navigation of life is done well. So therefore, it is possible to thrive in adversity as much as in times of ease. As a community of believers there are 4 active things we can do to help us thrive in church life. 1. CONNECT. To connect is to engage.  To engage is to plug into that which has life, health and future in it.  Connecting with God and His Word through connecting with Church and His people is Godly vitality to us.  To connect to a weekend service every week, to engage in a connect group and church community of youth, young adults, a community of me

5 Things Kids (and others) Need – part2

When thinking about what I could give a 20 year old looking for a spiritual father figure 5 things very quickly came to mind. They aptly relate to family life (no surprise) and are what I would consider the highest needs of your natural kids but also those you are discipling (who might be 10 or more years younger than you). Yesterday we looked at the first 2. Lets look at 3 more: 3.  FAMILY LIFE Psalm 68:6 NKJV God sets the solitary in families… We are made to flourish in the context of family. So if you live alone, join yourself to others, a family circle, join yourself to a Church circle that replicates family. So if you are a family have people in your home, don’t make your home private. You can be family for others. The eating together, the talking, debating, laughter, co

Life Change – DAY 5

And evening passed and morning came, MARKING the fifth day. Genesis 1:23 On the penultimate day of creation, day 5 in Genesis 1, we notice another life changing ‘MARKER’ that we could set in our own lives in 2013. Then God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.” Genesis 1:22 DAY 5.  On day 3 we looked at being fruitful. On day 5 we take this one step further. Its a landmark moment when what you do is fruitful.  For some people when they touch money it grows; for others when they teach, others 'just get it'; for others when they administrate life quickly has order to it.  This is fruitfulness.  However, what about multiplying this fruitfulness. To multiply your fruitfulness you have to put something in plac

Who are you looking at?

The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9 Paul here outlines a fundamental principle to our ongoing enjoyment of God's peace. He encourages the Church to put into action what they have learned, received, heard and seen in him. To do this we have to first let someone in. My question to you today is who are you letting into your world to guide your growth and development in the Lord. Who are you looking at?  Who are you learning from? From whom are you receiving?  Who are you listening to? Everyone of us needs to have someone in our lives that we look to as a discipler. Once we have identified this person we learn to observe, look into their world and notice what works, we see whats in them.
