JESUS IS ENOUGH

After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort? Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it? I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.  In the same way, “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” Galatians 3:3-6

Paul reprimanded the Galatian church for adding to the Gospel things like the law, works and old customs when the Gospel is actually very simple. We find everything in Jesus. Our works and our behavior may be good and even essential in working out our
salvation, but they do not add anything to it. Jesus is enough.

1. JESUS IS ENOUGH FOR YOUR PRESENT

You cannot add to your true life by your own sincere efforts. Think about the story of Mary and Martha. Martha worked hard to create a perfect home and provide perfect hospitality for Jesus when all He really desired was for her to sit at His feet like her sister Mary. When we realize Jesus is enough, we will work not for approval, but to achieve His purpose. Worship opens the door to Jesus is enough, it takes us from our present reality to His.
2. JESUS IS ENOUGH FOR YOUR FUTURE

Jesus is enough for our goals and ambitions. Ambition is good as long as it doesn’t replace Jesus but is fulfilled in Him. He gives us our purpose. Sometimes we can get so focused on creating a sense of security for the future that we forget that security can only be found in Jesus. Trust takes us from our future concern to His future and peace.
3. JESUS IS ENOUGH FOR YOUR PAST

When Paul asked God to take away his “thorn in the flesh” – whatever it was – God answered saying “My grace is sufficient for you for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor. 12:9). We don’t have to look elsewhere to cover pain, sin or shame. Jesus is enough. We cannot work miracles by human effort, but by His power. He is our righteousness. Grace takes us from our past struggle to His past victory.

Have a great week. See you in Church.
