A Flippin’ Good Life!

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3 John 1:2 It is God's desire that you prosper, in every area of your everyday life. In your marriage, with your children, in your work and finances, in your health and soul, in your friendships.  John in his older years sees with perspective about what is important in life - not the achievement of goals, ambitions or the accumulation of wealth only. But a holistic life that is on an upward journey. A healthy and prospering life will always end up being fruitful, productive, and achieving of ambitions.  But put the focus the other way around and life becomes self-consuming. There are 3 things that stand in the way of us seeing our lives prosperous or desiring this for others: 1. Doubt

7 ways to seize an opportunity …

Ephesians 5:14-21 NLT "AWAKE, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light." 15 So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil DAYS. 17 Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. 18 Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, 19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21 And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. We will seize opportunities by : 1. Being alert (vs 14) "The secret of success in life is for a man ...

A business owners help to Tithing

Over time different business owners have asked me how they should approach tithing as a business owner. Questions like "Do I tithe from my business?", "Do I tithe on profit or turnover?", "Do I tithe before major reinvestment or after?", "Do I tithe in a year I'm in debt?".  All such questions are very good ones. This blog is not just a compilation of my thoughts but a brief summary of the thoughts of other business owners and pastors I have talked this through with.  It is targeted largely at people for whom profit and turnover are 2 very different figures.  If you are a business owner working on your own, offering a service, based out of your home with little overheads then your fee income will be pretty much the same as your business profit, so simply tithing each month off what you

Freedom from Debt

"At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debts." Deuteronomy 15:1 NKJV Getting out of debt can feel like a long recovery process. How good to know that God is with you in your pursuit of freedom. He is committed to you being on top of your financial world and living with more than enough, abundantly. Some helpful tips to get you going on the road to recovery: - draw up a budget and know exactly your financial situation - put your debts into the cheapest repayment situation possible - commit to a manageable repayment process (make agreements with utility companies, credit card/banks etc). Think long term about this so you don't feel regularly disappointed by the debt you have. - look to better earning opportunities (extra work, higher paid job), but don't plac...
