5 Things Kids (and others) Need – part2

When thinking about what I could give a 20 year old looking for a spiritual father figure 5 things very quickly came to mind. They aptly relate to family life (no surprise) and are what I would consider the highest needs of your natural kids but also those you are discipling (who might be 10 or more years younger than you). Yesterday we looked at the first 2. Lets look at 3 more: 3.  FAMILY LIFE Psalm 68:6 NKJV God sets the solitary in families… We are made to flourish in the context of family. HUGS Physical touch is highly reassuring & provides security. It can be awkward for some dads when your child comes to a certain age. Maybe because you were never hugged… but do it and you find it reciprocated ie. kids need it, kids love it. There are 3 things that stand in the way of us seeing our lives prosperous or desiring this for others: 1. Doubt

Finding a Marriage Partner …

“He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord" Proverbs 18:22” Clearly marriage should not be gone into lightly. However, for many the possibility of marriage is daunting - for you let me say ‘Fear not’! Ahead of you is one the most rewarding journeys imaginable. A covenant of the most significant order compared to Christ’s covenant with His Church. This thought should not be so much a daunting one but a liberating one. You do not enter marriage on your own. All of heaven is on your side. 3 simple tips in finding your marriage partner: 1. Take an honest look at yourself before you set the standards of the partner you are looking for. This will stop you from either under or over projecting! 2. Perfection doesn’t exist. Really. Whoever you marry there

Attention Please!

Give your attention completely to these matters. 1 Timothy 4:15 What we give our attention to will carry the greatest value and reap the greatest rewards. Without the right attention we can never expect our relationships to do so well. This is what attention gives: TIME – what you do is not always as important as simply the giving of time. Being together says what I could be doing is less important than you. WORDS – talk together in ways that enrich each other’s world. Know when to talk and when to listen. Guys you can talk – try it! ACTIVITY – do together what works together. Eat together, play together, go to Church together. Embrace activity, not as something that adds to your 'busy' life but as something that enhances your world together. How could you give your attention to y
