A Minute in Colossians – Day 7

This is the last day of our 7 daily 1 minute bible studies, which have taken us I through these 2 verses: "I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself. 3 In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." Colossians 2:2,3 Today we look at the words "Christ Himself"... Filmed in multiple locations from my living room to the city, we will look at a different topic each day such as desire, encouragement, confidence and more. Stay tuned and be encouraged this week.

JESUS THE ANCHOR

God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. Hebrews 6:17-19 Paul is telling us here something about the nature of Jesus (the hope of our salvation and therefore the anchor of our soul).  He IS God, He makes a promise with us that He will not break. He stands by His Word. He is constant, He is a rock. Just as we need to be anchored by a seat belt in turbulence on a plane, a building needs a strong foun

JESUS THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.  Psalm 23:4-6 Some incredible thoughts about Jesus, our Good Shepherd, that King David gets from his experience as a shepherd. Jesus is nothing but GOOD.  When He is with us there is no need to fear, lack anything or go off on some lonely path.  His protection, guidance and comfort should be everything we need. He anoints our head with oil.  Protecting the sheep from irritating and frustrating insects around their head, in the

JESUS THE GREAT COACH

Jesus is the great coach, builder and architect of our lives.  Where religion seeks to oppress and steal true freedom, Jesus seeks to bring life, nurture life and empower your future. Jesus BELIEVES in you - He IS a Believer! A few thoughts on how Jesus acts as your great coach: HE COMES ALONGSIDE When 2 disciples were walking home to Emmaus troubled about their life and their future Jesus came alongside them and began to make some things clear – the Bible says "their hearts burned within them".  That is they felt strength, excitement and truth. When the disciples had been fishing all night – Jesus came alongside When they were in a storm – Jesus came alongside When the woman was caught in adultery – Jesus came alongside He still comes alongside us today, by His Holy Spir

Don’t give up on them …

Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. Isaiah 59:1 It never ceases to amaze me the sort of people God uses to build His Church and establish His Kingdom. Paul, public enemy number 1 to the Gospel. Gideon, full of fear, hiding in the wine press. Moses, an orphan to his culture, a murderer and refugee. Jesus Himself came from Nazereth, the place they said 'can anything good from Nazereth'. God specialises in being able to reach the difficult, the unlikely, the rejected ... And turns them into world changers. King Saul becomes Number 1 enemy of David, God's anointed. Saul appears impossible to reach. He's in a moment of murderous anger toward David, yet the Spirit of God falls on Him on one occassion and he begins to prophecy (1 Samuel 19:23)....
